KinuxOTA 2.0.0: the agent installs and updates from a signed apt repository

The KinuxOTA agent 2.0.0 is out, and it is the first release on our signed apt repository, apt.kinuxota.com. From now on the agent installs, updates and uninstalls like any other Debian package.

What is new

  • Three architectures: amd64, arm64 and armhf, one package each.
  • More platforms: Ubuntu 22.04, 24.04 and 26.04, Debian 12 and 13, and Raspberry Pi OS (64-bit and 32-bit, Pi 2 and newer).
  • A signed apt repository: apt checks every download against our key, which the package installs in /usr/share/keyrings/kinuxota.gpg.
  • One-command install: the Add device dialog shows a command that adds the repository, installs the agent and enrolls the device with its own key.
  • Updates through apt: sudo apt upgrade on the device, or Update agent in the dashboard, which does the same remotely.
curl -fsSL https://www.kinuxota.com/install.sh | sudo sh -s -- --key <KEY>

Devices with an older agent

Agents before 2.0.0 were installed from a downloaded package and cannot move to the repository on their own: reinstall them once, keeping the device's key. The steps are in Devices from before 2.0.0: reinstall once. After that, every update comes through apt.
